Our objectives
What’s happening. What we’re asking for.
What we are seeing
In recent months, residents across Poble Sec have reported
- Increasing incidents of violence in public spaces, particularly at night
- Open drug taking and dealing in residential streets, including near schools and parks
- Illegal squatting affecting buildings across the neighbourhood, with associated antisocial behaviour
- A general sense that public space has become less safe and less welcoming
These are not impressions — they are documented, repeated experiences shared by many neighbours.
What we are asking for
Ajuntament de Barcelona and the Districte de Sants-Montjuïc
- Sustained attention to the specific streets and public spaces most affected
- Meaningful engagement through the Consell de Barri
- Action on illegally squatted properties through the appropriate housing and legal channels
- Coordination with social services to ensure vulnerable people receive support, not simply displacement
Mossos d’Esquadra and Guàrdia Urbana
- Increased and consistent presence in the most affected areas
- A dedicated local contact point for community liaison
- Action against drug trafficking networks — distinct from, and not at the expense of, support for people struggling with addiction
- Transparent communication with the community about what is and isn’t possible
Community organisations & businesses
- Partnership in a broad neighbourhood coalition
- Support in connecting vulnerable people with the help they need
- Participation in an ongoing neighbourhood dialogue about safety and wellbeing
