Our objectives

What’s happening. What we’re asking for.

What we are seeing

In recent months, residents across Poble Sec have reported

  • Increasing incidents of violence in public spaces, particularly at night
  • Open drug taking and dealing in residential streets, including near schools and parks
  • Illegal squatting affecting buildings across the neighbourhood, with associated antisocial behaviour
  • A general sense that public space has become less safe and less welcoming

These are not impressions — they are documented, repeated experiences shared by many neighbours.

What we are asking for

Ajuntament de Barcelona and the Districte de Sants-Montjuïc

  • Sustained attention to the specific streets and public spaces most affected
  • Meaningful engagement through the Consell de Barri
  • Action on illegally squatted properties through the appropriate housing and legal channels
  • Coordination with social services to ensure vulnerable people receive support, not simply displacement

Mossos d’Esquadra and Guàrdia Urbana

  • Increased and consistent presence in the most affected areas
  • A dedicated local contact point for community liaison
  • Action against drug trafficking networks — distinct from, and not at the expense of, support for people struggling with addiction
  • Transparent communication with the community about what is and isn’t possible

Community organisations & businesses

  • Partnership in a broad neighbourhood coalition
  • Support in connecting vulnerable people with the help they need
  • Participation in an ongoing neighbourhood dialogue about safety and wellbeing
