Who we are
About this initiative and the values we believe in
We are a small group of concerned neighbours. We are now building a coalition that includes local businesses, cultural and community organisations, and harm-reduction services.
We will document incidents through official channels, request formal meetings with district and police authorities, and raise our concerns through the Consell de Barri — the formal participatory body designed exactly for this purpose.
We want our approach to be open, transparent and accountable. That’s why this website exists.
Our values
Poble Sec has always been a neighbourhood that makes space for everyone – long-time residents, new arrivals, families, young people, the elderly, people of all backgrounds. We want to keep it that way. Our initiative is built on three commitments…
Be inclusive
We work with neighbours, businesses and community organisations from across the neighbourhood – including guiris, expats, our lovely Pakistani community, local social centres, and cultural associations. We believe that lasting change only comes when the whole community moves together.
Be humane
We explicitly do not target homeless people, drug users, sex workers, or other vulnerable individuals. We understand that these are people in difficult situations who deserve support, not criminalisation. We are actively seeking to involve harm-reduction and social support organisations as partners in this initiative.
Be constructive
We are not a protest movement. We want to work with the Ajuntament de Barcelona, the Mossos d’Esquadra, and the Guàrdia Urbana – not against them. We want dialogue, accountability, and concrete results.
